Shri P.S. Karthigeyan is from the 2004 Batch of Indian Foreign Service (IFS). He is recipient of Ambassador Bimal Sanyal Gold Medal for Best IFS Officer Trainee (2004). Shri. Karthigeyan is a Post-Graduate in Economics from the University of Madras.

During his career spanning over two decades, he has held a number of important positions in Diplomatic Missions abroad as well as in India. From July 2021 to January 2025, he was the High Commissioner of India to Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga and Tuvalu. Shri.Karthigeyan was the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Australia from April 2018 to July 2021. Earlier in his career, he served in Syria and Maldives, handling Political, Commercial and other assignments.

In the Ministry of External Affairs, among other assignments, Shri.Karthigeyan served as Director (Northern Division) and as the Regional Passport Officer (Bengaluru). As RPO Bengaluru, he was awarded the Certificate of Special Recognition by the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister in 2016.

He joined the Department of Atomic Energy in April, 2025 and was appointed as Director on the Board of NPCIL with effect from 20th May, 2025.
