In line with the requirements of environmental legislation such as, The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (Section 6 of 1974), The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (Section 14 of 1981) and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (Section 29 of 1986), etc., NPCIL obtains prior consents for establishment & operation of Nuclear Power Projects (NPPs) and authorization for handling of hazardous waste from Pollution Control Boards of respective NPP state.
