Clearances from Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEFCC)
In line with the requirements of Environment (Protection) Act 1986, and associated Notifications, NPCIL obtains requisite Environmental Clearances from Ministry of Environment & Forest (MoEF) in accordance with the laid down procedure for Nuclear Power Projects / Parks.
Following are the stagesrequirements for obtaining Environmental Clearances (EC) from MoEF.
- Approval of Terms of Reference (TORs) for EIA.
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study.
- Public Consultation.
- Post Project Monitoring Plan.
As per Regulatory framework in India (Pre 1986 period), Environmental Clearance was not a pre-requisite. Hence for TAPS 1 & 2, RAPS 1 & 2, MAPS, NAPS and KAPS 1 & 2 Environmental Clearance was not required to be obtained.
