Tarapur Maharashtra Site

Tarapur Maharashtra Site is located on the west coast of the Arabien Sea at Tarapur, District Thane in the state of Maharashtra. It consists of two stations:

• Tarapur Atomic Power Station 1 & 2 (BWR)
• Tarapur Atomic Power Station  3 & 4 (2 X 540 MWe PHWR)

Environmental Clearance was obtained for TAPS 3 & 4 from Ministry of Environment and Forest in the year 1989 after submitting Environmental Appraisal Report to MoEF, New Delhi as per Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986.
